Input, processing and output
A computer accepts input, processes it according to instructions, and produces output. Storage keeps information for later use.
When you type a calculation, the keyboard provides input, the processor performs the calculation, and the screen displays the output. Saving the result uses storage.
Hardware means physical parts. Software means the instructions and programs that run on the hardware. A browser is software; a keyboard is hardware.
